MUSIC: Peggy Seeger and Calum MacColl – The First Farewell Tour
Saturday 4th June, 2022 - 20:00
€25Charismatic Peggy Seeger – singer, songwriter, feminist, icon, Ewan MacColl’s partner and muse – is the undisputed queen of folk and political song.
On this ‘First Farewell to Ireland’ tour, join Peggy and her son Calum MacColl, an exceptional musician in his own right, for a glorious evening of up-close performance.
Expect to hear a mixture of new and traditional songs from Peggy’s huge repertoire, plus some of her and Ewan MacColl’s most loved songs, interspersed with readings from Peggy’s award-winning memoir ‘The First Time Ever’. There will of course be plenty of audience participation and lots of relaxed family banter.
Peggy says: “First Farewell is an odd title for a CD or a tour, but it looks both forward and back as I have tried to do in my life. I have toured all over the globe since I was twenty and it is always a delight, a new adventure. I am an activist, an advocate, a left-winger, an eco-feminist, a singer of traditional and topical songs, trying to speak in my own way for my own time. This may be the last time, but then again it may not ….”
‘First Farewell’ Album named as 2021 Folk Album of the Year by Mojo Magazine
