‘Pete’s debut album (Join Up the Dots) ranks right up there beside the best of new Irish talent over recent decades’
Lonesome Highway
Pete Kavanagh is a musician, songwriter and storyteller from Co. Kildare. His music has a vintage quality to it, with modern twists that are uniquely his own. His sound invokes the likes of Bob Dylan, Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen, but this is no imitation – this is something new. He has a gift for storytelling that brings his songs to life, transporting listeners on an emotional journey.
Join up the Dots is a soulful and captivating album, combining alt-country, folk and rock with an overriding Americana feel. Pete’s strong vocal carries the narrative throughout the songs, with a rich array of instruments opening the soundscape and ethereal female backing vocals and lush harmonies adding tonal tangents to the stories being told. With real sincerity and a slow-burning angst under the dark themes explored in the lyrics, there’s a relentless thread of hope that’s genuinely inspiring.
Pete will be performing with a full backing band of talented local musicians; Joe Heffernan on Electric Guitar, Barry Mulrennan on Bass, Pamela Kavanagh on Backing Vocals, Jonny Warren on Drums and Backing Vocals and Mairead Carroll on Fiddle and Backing Vocals and there may be a surprise guest or two.
With songs that will make you laugh, cry and everything in between, this is a gig not to be missed.
“The atmosphere of the music created by this artist is very fascinating, the thing that makes it unique and magical is Pete’s voice. An artist of sure talent who has a uniquely original style.” Edgar Allan Poets
