Cruinniú na nÓg 2023 at Riverbank Arts Centre

Riverbank Arts Centre are delighted to celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg 2023 with a selection of free events on Saturday 10 June.

Cruinniú na nÓg is a flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland, and these events are supported by Kildare County Council.

Family Drumming Workshop with Jabba Jabba Jembe
Auditorium, 10am
Enjoy the energy of Group drumming in a friendly Group environment with Jabba Jabba Jembe!
This interactive  workshop is family friendly allowing all ages to learn and play a vast range of Drums and Percussion instruments. Learn about the origins of the instruments, how to play rhythms with your body and voice, discover rhythms  from across the globe.

Jabba Jabbe Jembe has been providing workshops for over 18yrs to people of all ages creating a unique learning environment. Playing rhythms in a group environment is a fantastic introduction to creative  music making  for young and old. All instruments are supplied for this event and no previous experience is needed to enjoy this event.
This is an event for the whole family (children must be accompanied by an adult).

Selma Daniel and Little Lion Dance Theatre Presents moving words
Auditorium, 12:30pm, 1:30pm & 2:30pm
moving words is a story-time workshop with live dance performance for early years that combines dance & the reading of a selected picture book. moving words aimsto aims to bring children closer to reading and dancing. moving words aims to bring children closer to reading and dancing.

This project is part of a wider project called Meath Move devised by the Solstice’s Associate Dance Artist Selma Daniel, is currently being developed in partnership with Solstice Arts Centre. Meath Move is a initiative that aims to create a sense of community and collaboration through dance, movement and creation combined with a plan of audience engagement.

moving words is devised and performed by dance artist Selma Daniel in collaboration with dancer collaborator and performer Mirela Romero and premiered as part of Culture Night 2022 at Solstice Arts Centre.

Please note – each ticket covers one adult and one child.

 

Children’s Books Ireland – Book Clinic

Are you a young reader? Looking for a new series to delve into? Feeling uninspired by your bookshelves at home? Then pop along to Children’s Books Ireland Book Clinic! Chat to the Book Doctor, consult on your favourite reads and leave with a prescription for your next book which you can take to your local bookshop or library!
Children’s Books Ireland Book Doctors give guidance about books to children and their families. Based on an informal chat, the white coat-clad Children’s Books Ireland Book Doctors recommend excellent books for any age of young reader, supported by Children’s Books Ireland’s many reading resources. All families are welcome to the Book Clinic, regardless of ability, need or barriers to reading. Every child leaves the Book Clinic with their own individual Book Prescription and a copy of Children’s Books Ireland’s Reading Guide

The Book Clinic operates on a drop-in basis. Each Book Doctor consultation will be 15 minutes in duration.
Riverbank Arts Centre is delighted to present this free event in collaboration with Children’s Books Ireland.
