€5 – €9Monk is a respected novelist and English literature professor. However when his latest book fails to attract publishers because it is not “Black enough”, the frustrated writer pens a new novel under a pseudonym, whose story includes every Black stereotype he can think of! But the plan backfires when the book is immediately snapped up by a major publisher, and Monk finds that he has unintentionally created a literary success by trading on the very cultural stereotypes he despises.
Nominated for 5 Oscars, and taking home the award for Best Adapted Screenplay, Cord Jefferson’s directorial debut is a smart and hilarious satire, which has proved to be a firm favourite with audiences.
