SCHOOLS: An Nollaig sa Naigín
Thursday 19th December, 2024 - 11:00
FreeAr Lá Nollag trí bhliain as a chéile a shuitear an leagan stáitse seo do PHÁISTÍ den saothar cáiliúil An Nollaig sa Naigín (‘Christmas in The Noggin’). Is cur i láthair íogair séasúrach é ar dhraíocht ghártha na hócáide don pháiste, agus is trí’n bhfocal labhartha, trí’n amhránaíocht agus trí’n gceol a chuirtear é os comhair na ndaoine óga.
Trí shúile an pháiste sna blianta fáis 6, 7 agus 8 mbliana d’aois atá an scéal seo cruthaithe, mar a léirítear an tsoineantacht agus an fás intinne a tharlaíonn sna blianta sin, uair a mbíonn an páiste neamhamhrasach ag déanamh iontais de tharlúintí an tsaoil agus den ócáid dhraíochtúil ghliondrach a thagann an treo gach aon bhliain. Tá San Nioclás ann, ar ndóigh, mar atá an sneachta, agus in éindí leis an ngliondar agus an taitneamh a ghabhann leis an dá ghné sin, tá sollúntacht ann, leis – an tsollúntach úd ar saintréith é den tráth sin bliana.
Mar bhunchloch théamach ann, chomh maith, tá manglam den ghrá clainne, grá domhanda, daonnacht agus soineantacht na páistiúlachta fite fuaite tríd síos mar cheiliúradh ar bhíogúlacht na féile beannaithe. É seo uile, agus na páistí féin rannpháirteach san amhránaíocht, rud a chuireann go ríméadach le ceiliúradh na Nollag.
Léann Ré Ó Laighléis go híogair oilte as a shaotharsa agus déantar tionlacan aoibhinn ar an léamh sin ag amhránaíocht bhinnbhriathardha agus ceol a chomhpháirtithe, Pádraig Cleary agus Shearie Fean.
Tá seo iontach tarraingteach agus feiliúnach d’ardranganna na ngaelscoileanna agus luathbhlianta an dara leibhéil.
Arna mhaoiniú ag Seirbhís Leabharlainne Chomhairle Contae Chill Dara.

Set on Christmas Day in three successive years and built around the seminal work that is ‘An Nollaig sa Naigín’ (‘Christmas in The Noggin’), this stage presentation is a sensitive, child-oriented, seasonal celebration of Christmas childhood, conveyed through the spoken word, song and music.
Seen through the eyes of the growing child on respective Christmases at ages six, seven and eight, the innocence of the developing mind permeates this presentation, as the unsuspecting youngster observes the wondrous happenings and expectation of that magical event that looms invitingly every year in the latter days of December. Santa is in the offing, of course, and there is snowfall, and, along with the usual joy and merriment, there is also that solemnity that is an undeniable element of that time of year.
There too, is an underpinning amalgam of familial and universal love, humanity and a childhood innocence of mind that is interwoven with the excitement of the festive season. All this, along with the inclusion of the children’s participation in the musical element, makes for a fun-filled and provocatively joyous Christmas experience.
Ré Ó Laighléis’ sensitive reading from his own work is beautifully complemented by the magical singing and playing of his accomplished co-performers, Pádraig Cleary and Shearie Fean.
Funded by Kildare County Council Library Service.
