As part of Riverbank Arts Centre’s  First Fortnight programme of events, John Conway will host a panel talk with artists, theatre makers, and musicians who deliver, arts, health and well being projects with the support of Kildare County Council Arts Service.

Join us for a presentation of projects that explore the link between arts and wellbeing from a number of unique perspectives. The projects, which range from theatre, film and photography, are focused around three specific communities: children, young people, and people with intellectual disabilities. They will be discussed in a panel talk between the participants who make them, and the artists who produce them. Together, they will explore the layered connections between arts, participation, wellbeing and personal development.

Panel includes:

John Conway, a visual artist and producer who works extensively in community arts and health settings, will host the night and present Kildare Young Filmmakers: a youth group that supports young people to devise and produce award winning short films.

Aisling Byrne, a theatre artist, director and educator who works extensively in the fields of arts and disability, community drama facilitation & socially engaged theatre practice, will present Singing For Survival: a theatre piece devised and performed by an ensemble of actors with intellectual disabilities which explores power, politics and place in our world.

Brian Cregan, a lens based artist who explores the potential of photography to represent our relationship with landscape, natural history and the built environment, will present his current project set in St Patrick’s Primary School Hazelhatch: exploring identity with 6th Class students as they transition from primary to secondary school.
