Friday 18th September, 2020 - 21:00
On Friday 18th September, we are delighted to welcome singer-songwriter Luka Bloom to Riverbank Arts Centre to perform tracks from his new album, Bittersweet Crimson, interspersed with a conversation with Keith Walsh about making and recording music in 2020.
This fusion of songs and stories will be broadcast live from Riverbank Arts Centre at 9pm.
Luka Bloom is one of Ireland’s most respected contemporary folk artists. Having produced over 20 albums since the 1970s, he continues to push the boundaries of what his music can do. Born into a very musical family, Luka is the youngest of six and grew up in Newbridge.
Keith Walsh is a Radio and TV Broadcaster. He currently presents on weekends from 5pm-7pm on RTÉ 2FM and weekdays on RTÉ Gold. His debut play Pure Mental will be on National Tour in Autumn 2020. Keith is Culture Night Ambassador for Kildare this year.
Come and join us online at 9pm this Culture Night – listen to some beautiful new songs by Luka and share your thoughts, comments and questions.
Reviews of Bittersweet Crimson:
“The utter joy in the ephemeral; the simplicity of life’s pleasures: Luka Bloom’s 22nd album could hardly be more timely. It’s as if it was gestating just for this moment when life has wound itself down to a lope (for some, at least). Bittersweet Crimson – recorded over two days in Windmill Lane studios just before lockdown, and taking its title from the Persian pomegranate – reaches wide and digs deep.” The Irish Times
