D W E L L I N G S

We are delighted to welcome Gráinne Bath Enright and her exhibition D W E L L I N G S to our Foyer Gallery in Riverbank Arts Centre, which runs from 5 May – 28 May 2022.

D W E L L I N G S is an exhibition of selected prints which explore a sense of place and the natural world, urban landscapes and the connections we have to these places, pulling on their history, folklore and the environment.

Regarding this exhibition Gráinne states: “My work explores our internal and external landscapes, the connections we have to our environment and the stories we tell about these places. The pieces I selected for this exhibition each hold story and meaning, though wildlife, colour and place. Using pen, watercolour and pencil, my detailed drawings allow the viewer to discover texture and fine points throughout the work”

We discovered to our surprise that Gráinne has a long history with Riverbank Arts Centre, going all the way back to when she was 11 years old and won an art competition with us!

In 2019, following an Open Call she illustrated the cover for our January – March programme with a whimsical forest scene featuring a bear, a badger and their little friend enjoying a performance in the woods.

The same year Gráinne joined poet Nell Regan for a programme designed by Riverbank Arts Centre which took place at the Curragh Family Resource centre and the Pollardstown Fen, as part of #WeAreThePoets, an initiative of Laureate na nÓg.  Together with children from the Curragh Family Resource Centre after school club they explored the unique landscape of the Pollardstown Fen (a nature reserve in the Curragh) through a series of workshops. Gráinne and Nell assisted the children to celebrate the rich natural history of Pollardstown Fen in their own poems and illustrations. The programme concluded with an event and a pop-up exhibition.

To celebrate Christmas 2020 Gráinne illustrated the entrance doors and windows of Riverbank Arts Centre, and again in 2021 to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

We look forward to working on many more projects with Gráinne in future!
