Join visual artist Sheena Malone, as she guides primary school students though her folk medicine inspired talk, introducing them to themes explored in her
exhibition, Folk Medicine, such as plant-based cures and healing practices.

In the days after the event, children will be encouraged to speak to parents, grandparents and older members of the community to gather information from the past. Recording folk medicine practices in their locality, and high-lighting its practice in contemporary times as well as in recent history. Then through sketching and drawing, the children will compile results their findings. Which will be displayed in the Riverbank Arts Centre the following week, on Thursday 10th December.

This event is inspired by the ‘Schools Collection’, an initiative in the 1930s where 50,000+ schoolchildren from 5,000 schools in Ireland were enlisted to collect folklore in
their home districts.
