In the eight years between her two Nobel Prizes (1903-11), Polish scientist Marie Curie (Karolina Gruszka) is widowed and embarks upon a scandalous affair with married colleague Paul Langevin (Arieh Worthalter). Moreover, she continues to conduct pioneering research into radiation and challenge the institutionalised chauvinism of the French scientific hierarchy.
