Teenager John (played impressively here by Swedish pop star Ulrik Munther) returns home after serving time in a youth detention centre. He is looking forward to a fresh start; but neither John’s former friends, nor the wider rural farming community his family is a part of, seem ready or willing to forgive or forget his crime.

As information is gradually revealed to the viewer about that crime, the tension slowly escalates as we witness John beginning to crack under the pressure of his neighbours’ judgements and his own conflicting emotions. Aided by mesmirising performances and with tones of Thomas Vinterberg’s The Hunt, writer-director Magnus von Horn has crafted a debut feature drama that is compelling, complex and emotionally powerful.
