Dance First is a sweeping account of the life of 20th century icon Samuel Beckett, played by Gabriel Byrne. Parisian bon vivant, World War II resistance fighter, Nobel Prize-winning playwright, philandering husband and recluse, Samuel Beckett lived a life of many parts. Here we see his life through his mistakes and fraught relationships with James Joyce (Aidan Gillen), his wife Suzanne (Sandrine Bonnaire) and his lover Barbara Bray (Maxine Peake).

Directed by James Marsh, this ground-breaking film pivots around the 1969 Nobel Prize ceremony when he was awarded the prize for Literature.
