Join two of Ireland’s finest contemporary musicians (Deirdre O’Leary and Alex Petcu) as they explore graphic notation, the peculiar practice of interpreting visual symbols, shapes and imagery as the score for a musical piece.

This one-off workshop is open to musicians and non-musicians alike (feel free to bring your instrument), and is a chance to get a close-up of the workings of piccolo and bass clarinets and a sprawling array of percussion instruments. Deirdre and Alex will show some notable examples of graphic notation, and how they are interpreted; and workshop participants will also have the chance to create their own graphic score, and have it interpreted live!
