ONLINE WORKSHOP: An introduction to Hand Weaving with Naoimh Larkin
Friday 26th March, 2021 - 19:00
This two-evening workshop is designed to be a playful, colourful, carefree learning experience, where you will learn the basics of hand weaving.
You will learn how to set up a hand loom, how to read and create weaving patterns, gain a better understanding of yarns, their properties, textures and learn how to mix and blend colour while weaving your own unique textile sample piece. Alongside your tutorial, you will learn some handy tips and tricks when it comes to starting and finishing a piece of hand-woven art. You will be provided with information of where to buy the most suitable yarns and fibre for future projects.
Course details: This short course is for adults and there are two online workshops (Friday 26th March and Friday 2nd April) of two hours duration each, 7pm-9pm (via ZOOM). Please note, although the first workshop takes place on 26th March, it is essential that you book in advance (by 16th March) as the materials you need (a weaving kit!) will be posted out to you by the artist. In order to do this, we will contact you for your postal address and request your permission to share this with the artist. No previous experience is required, beginners welcome!
