This workshop, facilitated by Cian Ó Náraigh, will focus on devising theatre bilingually, with Gaeilge being at the core. Through a variety of exercises incorporating storytelling, Irish literature, and Verbatim Theatre, the workshop will illustrate how language, written and spoken, can be the greatest source of inspiration. This workshop is for artists and those curious about making art. This bilingual workshop will be in Irish and English. All levels are welcome and the facilitator will change between languages to make sure everyone understands. Come use whatever cúpla focal you have!

Seift, rehearsed reading
This workshop is in connection with Seift, a rehearsed reading that is on at 8pm after the workshop. It is a bi-lingual play about political grifting, the repurposing of language, and Irish identity. It’s about familial relationships, media narratives, and the concept of notions. As Aodh’s job mirrors a country with a collapsing image of itself, Seift seeks to ask when exactly are we going to do anything to change it?

Cian Ó Náraigh
Cian is a drama facilitator and playwright. His practice is interested in creating workshops that are playful and engaging, with a grounding in our contemporary experiences. As a Gaeilgeoir, he has been exploring ways to incorporate the language into his practice, such as NASC, a bi-lingual series of workshops exploring climate change and our connection with land, supported by Kildare County Council. As a playwright, Cian was an Artist in Residence in Roscommon Arts Centre in 2023, where he first developed Seift. As a facilitator, Cian has worked for organisations such as Youth Theatre Ireland and Fighting Words.
